Well, not quite yet, he has a written test to go, but has passed all his actual diving requirements. Way to go Will, you made the old man proud … once again.

It’s Not Always the Big Things
The photographer in me is drawn to the small things, the details. For me that is the difference between a snapshot and a photograph. Sometimes I like to disassemble things further, perhaps to remove the color. It is an entirely different way of looking at things. There is a glorious piece of engineering in this image, but there is more, a lot more.
Stop and smell the pampas grass occasionally.

Perfect Sunset at Big Sur
Then again, most of them are
I shot this last Friday along with the Bixby Bridge series of photos previously posted. I actually would have been happier if there had been some fluffy clouds to enrich the picture a bit, but this wasn’t bad at all.

Oh No! Poison Oak!
In obtaining pretty cool photos like the one below taken at Bixby Bridge in Big Sur, you have to crawl over some rough and overgrown terrain. When you get to your vantage point you have to get down on the level of your subject. That means putting your hands and face in the foliage.
Well … I now look like I have leprosy and my skin is on fire. I have poison oak on and in various parts of my body, some of which are not fit to be discussed in family oriented blog.
So, I hope you like the picture!
John
PS – Important safety tip: Do NOT go to the bathroom until after you have had a thorough shower if you have been to Big Sur. Use of toilet paper prior to said shower my have unintended and serious consequences.
